3 Tips Your Lips Need to Survive the Winter Months

The Winter weather is in full effect and peeping around the corner is CHAPPED, CRACKED lips. Before you catch the symptoms of chapped, cracked lips: burning, peeling & crusty skin and dryness let me provide you with 3 tips to keep your lips immune from these symptoms.

Tip #1 – Exfoliate

You want to make sure you are scrubbing away the dead skin so that your lips stay plump and vibrant. My favorite thing to use is a lip scrub. I love to use the one from Tree Hut – SugarLips Lip Scrub. It doesn’t dry my lips out and the great thing, it’s pretty affordable $5.99 at my favorite store ULTA. In addition to the scrub, I like to use Sephora’s Refresh and Prep Lip Scrubber – $8.00. It gets all dead skin and it’s not harsh on my lips. We have to remember our lips are delicate.

Tip #2 – Moisturize

During the winter months, our lips get drier quicker so we want to make sure we are moisturizing with some good products. Most people use Chapstick, Carmex, or Vaseline but with the Winter months being so harsh, we want to take it up a notch. I love using the Aquaphor Healing Ointment Mini Jar – ULTA $2.99. I’ve only been able to order this one online through ULTA. It seems to work better than the tube in my opinion. It’s not heavy on the lips and a little go a long way. It’s also easy to pair with your favorite lipstick matte or satin. If using a matte lipstick, simply blot before applying your lipstick so it doesn’t change the appearance of the lipstick.

Tip #3 – Use a Lip Mask

A lip mask is a little thicker than a lip moisturizer. It penetrates deep into the lip keeping your lips moisturized longer. I like to use Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – Sephora $20 at night time. It lasts throughout the night and my lips look and feel refreshed in the AM. It also helps with getting rid of fine lines in the lips showcasing a smooth, plump lip when used over time.

So let’s discuss: What are some of your favorite products to use for your lips during the cold, winter months?
