Why Testifying Promotes Growth For You and Others…

Testifying on what God has done for me is one thing I struggled with tremendously.  I looked back at my past and often time felt ashamed to speak on the things that transformed me. I thought people would look at me differently or would judge me. I know there are so many people who may think that their testimony shouldn’t be told or heard but I want to tell you that God will lead you to tell that story to the right people and at the right time.

I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; behold, I have not restrained my lips, as you know, O Lord. I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation. -Psalms 40:9-10

I am grateful for the things I’ve been through because it has taught me that my flaws are beautiful. Every mistake has shaped me into the woman I am today because I was molded by the pieces that broke me. All the things that came against me, God helped me rise above them. He insured me that things would get better. Each storm I got wet but I didn’t drown. Each drought I quenched thirst but God purified me. Why do we question our test? Why is it that we try to avoid agony at all cost? We go through things so that we may become wiser. How can you grow when you’re not open to learning something new or sharing what you have been through to help someone else?

Growth works both ways.

God wants us to be able to testify so that we can help others who might be going through the same thing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Even though we all have different testimonies doesn’t mean we can’t relate.

Remember: Have an open heart to learn from others but most importantly be able to learn from yourself. God will place the proper tools in your hands you will need to speak on all the things he has done for you. The flaws you carry make you unique, wiser, stronger and more beautiful each day. Continue walking with authority and declaring the victories you have won thus far. For the ones that are soon to come be prepared and equipped for the battle.
